My granddaughter, Rose, stayed overnight with me recently, and she asked for hot chocolate with marshmallows. I told her that I didn’t have marshmallows, but I could make her some special hot chocolate. After making her the hot chocolate, she agreed that it was her favorite way to have hot chocolate from now on.
I didn’t do anything really special. I simply doctored up some instant hot chocolate mix that I keep on hand for the kiddos.
If you have three ingredients on hand, you can make some of Mimi’s Special Hot Chocolate, too.
To have a special hot chocolate, it only takes instant cocoa mix, coffee creamer, and whipped cream to have a super creamy- and decadent- hot chocolate experience. I’ve used regular French Vanilla creamer in the past, but if it is close to Christmas and the Peppermint Mocha creamer is available, I’ll use that. I’ve tried a variety of creamers, including the Mocha creamer, but my fave, by far, is the Peppermint Mocha creamer. Top it all off with some whipped cream like you are in a coffee shop, and you have the perfect hot chocolate with no marshmallows needed.
