My Health Journey: Checking in

person standing on white digital bathroom scale

Weight: 246.4 lbs.

Back in January I weighed in at 258 lbs. and I thought that I had lost a great deal of weight. Funny how I was still wearing my size 22 pants and size 24 pants while complaining. At the end of this school year, I was tugging to keep my pants up and decided to buy some size 20 pants.

I’m in a size 18 now. What!?!

I have lost 2 bra sizes and 3 pant sizes.

I wish I could say that I knew how I lost it, but the truth is that I don’t know. It could be the diabetes is just out of control. It could be that I have some other health ailment going on. Or, and hear me out on this, my stress level has gone down significantly.

After my son’s accident, I feel like I was just holding my breath waiting on the next shoe to drop, but once we made it past the settlement, everything smoothed out, and I could finally breathe again.

I am aware that stress can cause you to gain weight.

I am also aware that when your blood sugar is out of control, you can lose weight. Like me losing 5% of my body weight in 5 months.

The downside to all of this is that in 15 days, I will no longer have health insurance. I left my teaching position due to moving, and I haven’t found another teaching position where I live now.

My goal is to just start monitoring my food intake and get some exercise. I will be starting to get up and go walk every morning so that I can maintain my weight loss. Hopefully the exercise will help burn up the excess blood glucose so that I can lower my blood sugar in a healthy way.
